Aleatoricism is the incorporation of {chance|randomness|random chance} into the {process of creation|creative process|creation of any work}.

A "deterministic" process is one where the {final result|result|outcome} is entirely determined by the {starting|initial} inputs. If the same process was followed many times, the final result would be the same {every|each|each and every} time. The alternative is a non-deterministic process, a stochastic process, an aleatoric process.

Aleatoricism is abundant in the world of art and music.

A system may provide a fixed framework and allow for randomness within the framework, or it may be entirely random, without any over-arching framework.
