Aleatoricism is the incorporation of {chance|randomness} into the process of creation.
A "deterministic" process is one where the final result is entirely determined by the starting inputs. If the same process was followed many times, the final result would be the same every time. The alternative is a non-deterministic process, a stochastic process, an aleatoric process.
Aleatoricism is abundant in the world of art and music.
A system may provide a fixed framework and allow for randomness within the framework, or it may be entirely random, without an over-arching framework.
